This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 2。5 stars。 The Rebel was the first book that I've ever read by Kendall Ryan and I did mildly enjoy the story。 It had the angst， swoony and steamy movements I'm looking for in a romance book。 However， I felt overall the story just missed its mark。 Unfortunately I ended skim reading from mid-way through chapter 26 to the end。 I liked Holt and his personality。 It reminded me of someone I care about。 He was a good character and his story had so much potential and however， I thought it just fell flat 2。5 stars。 The Rebel was the first book that I've ever read by Kendall Ryan and I did mildly enjoy the story。 It had the angst， swoony and steamy movements I'm looking for in a romance book。 However， I felt overall the story just missed its mark。 Unfortunately I ended skim reading from mid-way through chapter 26 to the end。 I liked Holt and his personality。 It reminded me of someone I care about。 He was a good character and his story had so much potential and however， I thought it just fell flat。 He just spent most of the time pinning over a girl that wasn't really interested in him until they reunited six years after that faithful night。 Now， where do I start on the 'heroine' of the story。 Eden。 I did not like Eden one bit unfortunately and I really wanted to， she was a strong， independent woman。 I felt that her career was a bit far-fetched and no， it isn't because she leading a team in a very male dominated sport。 I liked that aspect， it is great to see authors writing females in what is seen as 'unconventional' career roles for women。 What I found far-fetched was that her father was the governor and her grandfather also happened to own a NHL team？ Eden's overall personality frustrated the hell out of me。 She managed to annoy me within the first 20 pages of the book。 I can't really pin-point a main reason why， but a possible reason is that I felt that she jumped to conclusions really quickly about Alex on that night， I mean if they weren't exclusive， he is entitled to do what he wants with whoever he wants and really she shouldn't have invaded his privacy while he was getting a bj and had the audacity to get upset about it; like he was cheating on her。 But; on that note， she was allowed to get upset about him not taking any notice of her that night。 I mean， he was 21-22 year old college male in his prime。 Anyhow， enough about the characters。 I didn't like how the story was paced， I felt like the first two chapters could have been a prologue or could have been integrated into the story a bit better to make it less jarred。 I felt that the reason for Eden to need a 'bodyguard' was bit meh。 Death threats， hate mail and protests are serious， but there wasn't one scene in the actual book where we got to see her needing to be protected from a mob of angry fans。 Now， I'm not saying I was reading the book for violence or stalking; no。 I just wanted a justification for the need of Holt in the overall story。 It just felt flat。 Now， the apparent PR mess when their relationship got exposed。 As a real life hockey fan， I can say I don't know much about the owner/general manager of my favourite team other than when they traded a player。 But I can't say I know too much about their personal life。 I felt that people in the hockey world just love the game and wouldn't get to caught up in the personal life of the owner。 I just felt that the climax of the story was disappointed and honestly， there was no real apparent reason for them to hide their relationship in the first place。 Like Gretchen said about Holt， he is a contractor。 Meaning that she wasn't having an affair with anyone on the team。 So that storyline just didn't make sense to me。 So what did I enjoy about this book？ I did enjoy the relationship and chemistry between Eden and Holt。 I thought they were a great couple in the end。 I liked how Holt was sweet and helped her。 I liked the cute dates they went on and the fact that Eden didn't care about money or status （that was a nice change）。 Whilst this wasn't my favourite book from Kendall Ryan， I'm definitely looking forward to giving her other books a shot。 Especially Alex and Apsen's story。 。。。more

“ I chose the wrong person” sums this whole book。 I loved this story。 The one thing I really enjoyed in this book that it wasn’t about Eden falling in love with the forbidden hockey player it was so much then that。 Well written and an enjoyed every bit of this。 Can’t wait for book 2。

Eden and Holt felt very underdeveloped as characters， and I didn’t feel very emotionally invested in them。 This book was also very low on the angst scale which kind of disappointed me since I came into this book expecting some life threatening situation with the bodyguard story line。 Instead， being her bodyguard just gave Holt an excuse to hang around Eden more which I thought was a waste of potential plot wise。
